What is ColonialLUG?
ColonialLUG is a LEGO User Group (LUG) for teenage and adult fans of LEGO founded in 2014. Based out of southeastern Pennsylvania, we build and exhibit our creations at conventions, hold monthly club meetings, and work alongside local events to spread the enjoyment of our favorite brick. Our members have grown over the years, as has the size of our event calendar and the number of community outreach initiatives we organize.

Meetings

ColonialLUG members work together to plan and hold monthly meetings in Southeast Pennsylvania. We meet at museums, libraries, and sometimes the home of a member willing to host everyone! Each of our meetings has an appointed Meeting Coordinator, who works with other ColonialLUG members ahead of a meeting to plan an agenda. We encourage our members to lead building competitions, present ideas to the rest of the LUG, or run activities of their choice. Set drafts and other expected activities are common sights. We also spend some time at each meeting summarizing recent activities and planning for upcoming community events.

Community Events

ColonialLUG works with numerous partner organizations across Southeastern Pennsylvania to bring community focused hands-on building opportunities to the public. We enjoy working with museums, nature centers, schools, historical societies, non-profits, and other community organizations!
Our public activities range from free-building activities to community designed collaborative builds, and everything in-between. Whatever we do, the important thing is that ColonialLUG provides the tools for visitors of all ages to share their enthusiasm and creativity with their community! |

Conventions
ColonialLUG members regularly attend conventions such as BrickFair Virginia, BrickFair Oaks, and Empire Brick Con. In the past, our members have also traveled to Brick-Erie, Brick Con, Brickworld Chicago, Brick Fest, and Brick Universe events. We organize collaborative builds to display at conventions, but we also encourage our members to bring their own builds, display in unfamiliar themes, and meet new people! Outside of the displays, ColonialLUG members are offered support by the community to run games, activities, and presentations for our fellow attendees.

Community Initiatives
Outside of the events we attend, ColonialLUG members often work together to better their community, usually in brick-related ways!
Donations: When individuals reach out through our Contact Us page to see if we accept donations, we offer them the option for ColonialLUG to work as an intermediary. If they are interested, one of our members will volunteer to collect, wash, and sort their bricks, then ColonialLUG will redirect the donation to either a library, school, or other organization in need of LEGO! Between 2024 and 2025, ColonialLUG processed and donated roughly 35 bins of parts to other organizations!
